About the game
Star Trek: Infinite is a is a 4X grand strategy game where the players take control of one of four interstellar civilization and are tasked with exploring, colonizing, and engaging minor nations and other major civilizations with diplomacy, trade, or warfare. A large part of the game involves dealing with both scripted and emergent events, many based on or referencing events in the Star Trek franchise.
My Tasks
During my tenure at NGE, I was part of the NEXT Department, responsible for conceptualizing, pitching, and prototyping new IPs. Subsequently, I transitioned to the team in charge to develop Star Trek Infinite to contribute during the Live Ops stage.
Gameplay Design
After joining the team, I dedicated time to playing and learning about the different gameplay elements and content within the game. This allowed me to identify both popular and underused features. I also took the opportunity to understand how the script functions in order to add new content. Additionally, I actively gathered player feedback through forums and social media to pinpoint pain points and areas for improvement. Collaborating with the Lead, I played a key role in prioritizing feature improvements based on their impact, feasibility, and alignment with the game’s overall vision.
Bug Tracking and Fixing
Over time, I took on more responsibilities for fixing the content.
Mentoring
Since joining the team, I was conducting weekly meetings to provide mentorship for other designers.
